trac control switch sticking

trac control switch sticking
I noticed my trac control switch is sticking. I tried cleaning the sides of the switch and squirting some silicon on, which helps, but it looks like I need to take it apart to clean the shaft. Can the front of the switch be taken off or does the control panel need to be taken out to get to it? I assume the front of the switch should come out to change the bulb. Has anybody had any experience or advice with this?

Bulb is in rear of the whole unit strip. You will have to remove the center console. There are plenty of other threads and even a Reverend Sam video somewhere that shows how to do this. Once you see the video you should be able to fix in about an hour if you've never pull the console before.
When the switch stuck, did you have seat heater / fog lights on? There is a known problem that when that area heats up both the DSC / Traction and hazard buttons stick until they cool down.

I don't usually turn the trac control off so I am not to worried about it. I did not have any other of the switches turned on. It seems like it is binding on the shaft from not being used . The next time I take out the counsel I will check it out. I have had the counsel out several times to install a Sirius radio antenna adapter. It is a pretty easy job.

You can buy those modules very cheap on Ebay at times. I have bought them in the past just for the light bulbs in them ($20ish) as it was quick, cheap, bulb color matched, gave me spare bulbs which I have since used, and it prevented me from even doing light bulb research (I did know they were not standard ones that can be gotten from an auto store).
So even if you break the switch trying to fix it, the whole module can be replaced fairly cheap.
