Got 2 1997 XK8s (one standard radio, one Alpine). The steering wheel radio controls don't work on either one. In looking at the wiring diagrams I see that it is a simple resistance matrix and doesn't have any fused or no-fused power.

So it must be either a broken/shorted wire or loose ground. Does anyone know the path this wire might take from ground through the steering wheel switches and over to IC10-2 connector on the back of the radio?

Thanks, but this is the same diagram I currently have. It depicts the connections between components, but I'm attempting to locate the physical location of the connections between the steering wheel controls module and the radio connections. i.e where is the ground connector shown coming off the steering wheel controls block located? Is it in the steering wheel, under the dash, on the transmission tunnel cover etc. Where are the other connectors...under the dash, behind the console, somewhere in-between.

If I can find out the locations of the connectors I can follow them and see if a connector is disconnected or or a wire cut or grounded.

I just looked. Ground FC3BL is a ground point that appears 25 times in the schematics ,for over a dozen items looks like it is under the dash by the steering wheel. Maybe tomorrow when I'm not so tired I can help you zero in on the location.

did you know there is a multi wire connector under the air bag to send steering wheel switches from the wheel to a circular trace board under the steering wheel? (Steering wheel rotates wiper pressing on the circular trace underneath maintains circuit signal contact)
bet you could trace continuity to that connector = validate if switches circuit in steering wheel is ok. You know the resistor value from the diagram- send a signal through an outboard resistor of same value see if it switches the component.
