Transmission issue p1774
I have a 1998 xk8 convertible well maintained so I have had the traction control and suspension control lights on and off few time, the weird hot start deal for about a year now but the new slow mo mode with code P1774 says selonied A or E3 switch. Possible the TCU module too. Anyone have any recommendations thoughts
I did start the car with jumpers one time wrong everything seems ok after that however. Just giving all information I got.

Hi Shawn,
I have moved your post from the General Tech forum to the forum for the X100, which is the Jaguar factory project code for your 1998 XK8.
The most common cause of intermittent illumination of the traction control warning lamp is cracked solder joints on the circuit board of the ABS/DSC control module. There is a lot of information about resolving this issue in the forum.
The hot start issue could be due to a failed diaphragm in the Fuel Pressure Regulator (FPR), which allows a rapid decrease in fuel pressure when the engine is shut off. This can leave little or no fuel remaining in the fuel rail, creating the modern equivalent of vapor lock.
The transmission fault and Restricted Performance (I assume this is what you mean by "slo mo mode") may be due to a problem with the solenoid or the wiring harness between the transmission and Transmission Control Module (TCM). There are pinpoint tests to diagnose the cause in the Workshop Manual, which you can download at the link below. However, my references do not indicate that P1774 is a valid diagnostic trouble code for the ZF 5HP24 transmission in 1998-1999.
Jaguar X100 Workshop Manual - First Edition 1997
One thing to be aware of is that Jaguars require very strong, healthy batteries, and if the voltage sags too low while the starter is cranking the engine, spurious fault codes can be triggered. If your battery is even a little tired, it may be time to replace it.
Cheers,
Don
