An elm327 can usually do it.

 

I had a P0735 with RP and limp-home mode once. I'm not kidding: It's was a loose (and dirty) battery terminal. That was over two years ago. Haven't had a problem since. I'm not sure about the "squack" thing, but I used to also have a "bloop" when upshifting to 5th gear. It's long gone since switching to MERCON SP (from RedLine 6).

 

Okay, thanks for the suggestion of the ELM 327. I forgot that I own one. DOH! Haven't used it in over 3 years. Anyway, I put it on and connected to my phone and went for a drive. I drove the car hard which I don't normally do as they aren't that fast. Upshifting and downshifting as I sped up and down and no codes or squawk could be found. Then I remembered that the squawk usually occurs when I am at cruising speed and give it just a little gas which may or may not make it go from 6th to 5th. I tried doing that and got the squawk a few times. Finally it went into limp mode and spit out a code P0735 which is "Gear 5 incorrect ratio". This is the only code and as I recall, the only code that the high dollar analyzer that I borrowed from a friend found a while back. So, why does it squawk under gentle acceleration with a shift from 6th to 5th but not when I punch it? Ideas? Ideas on the code? THanks
