The car has 59000 miles on it, since I bought it 4 months ago the transmission is fine, no slipping, etc. but it's very stiff i.e. it almost jumps when I switch it. At certain times it's very smooth and quiet but not usually.

 

hmmm, not sure if overfilling can have that affect or not. What does your car idle at (RPM) when you 'switch' it?

 

Are you referring to manual shifting when you say "switch it"?

 

No, when I "shift" it into P,R,etc. It idles normal at 650 rpm when shifting, it's just so stiff, it jolts/lurches etc. It's never gone out of gear driving or otherwise. I doubt any work like filling it with oil, etc has been done on it the previous(original) owner only had it 56k miles so he had the warranty included tuneups etc. I'm just being proactive maybe it's nothing to worry about?

 

Check engine and/or transmission mounts. Mine were bad at 58k.
