Default trunk finisher

Anyone have an idea where I can buy a chrome trunk finisher for a 2000 xk8? Thanks a bunch.

They never fitted the 2000 XKs but you can do a retro fit, I did do a write up for it, it is on this forum somewhere, might have been moved to the "How To" section at the top.

Jaguar are currently on back order until the end of the month, they are not too expensive about $150, you could try some breakers, try some of the forum sponsors, Nalley seems to be the one most popular people go for

Welcome to the forum btw

I can not find that how to on the trunk finisher. I bought one and it is here. So I was hoping to find this guide for my husband. Also, being that my xk is a 2000 it has no trunk button. This finisher has a hole where one should be. Any suggestions on what to put there to finish it out? Thanks.

Maybe XKRacer will chime in here, but I'm pretty sure your finisher should have come to you with the button in place, and not just a hole where the button should be!

There is a way to retrofit your car so that the button will work (again, in the instructions from XKRacer), or you could just install the finisher without that retrofit. But whether the button is working or not, it should be there, I believe.

Where did you get the part?

I bought it from Coventry West in Atlanta. I have emailed him. Hopefully he will tell me he has it and will stick it in the mail. I was kinda surprised when i didn't find it in the box with the finisher. Maybe this was just an oversight. Thanks.

They should come with the release button, there were a load that left the factory without them, this was an oversight, I even have one myself that needs to go back, I have been told by Jaguar they will be available end of February....

Click HERE for the How to on fitting the finisher, it was I beleive to be put in the FAQ section but it hasn't been yet maybe one of the mods will see this thread and move it........ Good luck

I am guessing Coventry thought this was a replacement finisher for a MY that used a button originally. If its a retrofit, you'll most likely have to get your hands on the button and wire it to the trunk release circuit back there in the boot. Again, XKRacer did right up somethign about it before...

ahhh, you beat me to it. Yes, since I am here now, I'll put a link into the xk8-xkr FAQ thread. If you haven't perused the vast casserole of knowledge and tips moonpetal, take a stroll over there (yes, that link above) when you have some time to kill.

Coventry made me spend extra money to get the release button. I was under the impression that it came with it when I bought the finisher so I am a bit disappointed. I expressed this to the salesman and told him it would be a good faith gesture for a repeat customer if he would just send it to me but he told me that isn't the way that company did business. So, I will not be a repeat customer. UGH!!

How much was you charged for the finisher and the button combined? Should of been no more than around $150

$145 for the finisher and he wanted $35 is what he wanted for the button. He let me have it for $20. These are used parts.

Default Painted boot finisher

Interresting....on the other hand I prefer the painted "plinth".
Does anyone have their old one to sell me? Let me know,I'll pay $50 for a nice one.
Cheers
