On my 05 S-Type. when I push the "open button" the trunk pops open. Not so on my 05 Convertible. It does open, but I have to get out and manually raise the trunk.
Is this normal, or are the pistons shot????

It is normal. If the “pistons” were shot, the boot lid would crush your neck with the smallest provocation, such as a gust of wind, while you are looking for something in the boot.
