Trying to replace shifter plate 2003 xk8

I am trying to replace the shifter plate on my 2003 xk8 does anyone know if a shifter plate from a 2005 will fit and how do i remove the current one?

Post a picture of what you are trying to replace and you may get better feed back. Is the shifter plate the part that is a trim piece on the console?
