Default two symptoms at one time park shift steering wheel

Hi Guys,

actual, i got the XKR Model 2004 Convertible of my friend at home because two symptomes appeared at the same time.

First ... the Gear Shifter Lock does not function ... i read tons of threads about that ... but Second: the electric of the steering wheel is quite crazy at the same time ... it moves, when you pull out the key ... but you cannot adjust the Wheel with the Wheel-Switch.

How can i localize the Source of the Problem?

All Fuses are checked ...

Brake lights full function ...

Cruise Control full funktion

GAP full function

Cruise Control gets off and brake lights are on, when pulling the brake pedal ...

so i guess, the brake switch is in perfect condition ...

I canīt believe that the Potis of the Steering Wheel get out of order at the same time for instance the brake switch.

Some fault code are not present ...

i donīt get it :-(

thanks and regards

danny

Once again i checked the fuses ...

now its obvious but still not find the reason why ...

Fuse No 7 ... 15 amps
Gearshift interlock solenoid ignition keylock solenoid, interior lightning, windscreen washer pump

changed ... but blown immediatly ...

so ... something burns that fuse ... and i donīt know why ... because nothing was changed in that electrical system ...

Sounds like you are searching for a short.

Does that same fuse service the vanity lights in the mirrors? I've heard those wires can get pinched when reinstalling the mirrors, say after refurbishing a headliner, causing a short.

The solenoid and washer motor I wouldn't expect to blow until you tried to use them.

a very good idea ... recently ... the Jaguar Dealer unmounted a lot of parts changing the hydraulic-oil-tubes of the convertible roof ... maybe the vanity-mirror were compromised

Problem solved

Preventiv, i changed the Solenoid of the gear brake.

Then i unmounted all covers of the hydraulic convertible roof mechanic (A-Pillar) and what did i found ... some cable pressed between two metal plates. Thats constructed by Jaguar and must result electric problems.

Saving this cable, everything works fine.

thanks for the vanity mirror advice

:-)
