I put Flaken 452s on about 9 months ago and have put on about 7000 miles since, I am now getting a fair amount of tyre noise, it has developed over the last 1000 miles or so.

The tyres do look slightly more worn on the outer edge. An alignment check showed they were just at the limit of 25' combined and are now set to 13' and camber is within spec.

Anyon else had noise issues with these tyres?

I have also recently noticed a clunk coming from the front left on right turns, is this a sign of ball joint failure? A new track rod end was fitted to the front left less than a year ago so this can be rulled out.

 

They are very hard, and don't last long either. If its feathering on the inside front tires, you'll hear it on these tires before most others. I ran these for my first set of tires on the xk8, but didn't return to them.

 

I had the exact same problem with the exact same tires a few years ago on my 05 XJR. Replacement tires cured the problem but be aware that uneven ware on any brand of tire will produce more or less the same problem.

Before you replace those tires, however, get to the bottom of any suspension problems inclusive of "clunking" issues or it will be good money after bad.
