Default Ultimate 2000 XKR on E-Bay $32K

Now here is what you'd end up with if you wanted to put over $100K into one of our cars. Holy crap.

I like some of it.

I'm intrigued by the roll bars.

I went far farther with the interior paint, and lights than he did. He went farther on the engine and bracing than I did. The thing is you'll never get your money out of this and after all this work selling it for this kind of loss is depressing. I'm keeping mine until I can no longer drive it. Call it a life project...

Default Love it

I wish he had more photos up. beautiful work. Even if you don't agree with what he's done he should be applauded for going so far with a car most won't touch. I say Bravo and hope his next project is another Jag. Even though a aluminum XK Iis the better car, I'd rather have this one.

I bought my 2002 XKR for $19,900 in 2011 and have put about $20k into upgrades. See my signature for a list. I don't plan to ever sell it and never expected to get out of it what I put into it. I just really enjoyed making it mine.

I bought my 2002 XKR in 2010 for $15800 and have put that much into keeping it running, but I've enjoyed every minute (and a 100,000 additional miles) in it. I would love to own that advertised XKR if I didn't already own two. But, if that car's price ever drops to about $20K, I'm a buyer of my third XKR. How fitting, I've got a convertible, a coupe, and this one would be a convertible coupe.

Would love to see some pictures. And glad to see that it is for life. Reminds me of what Sir Lyons said, " a car is the closest thing to some alive that man can build". Well anyway close to that anyway. Somethings you must keep for life. I am like that with my airplane.

I have a thread on the car, I'll be updating it later in the week as I'm having the amps swapped out for a more advanced system with a lot of custom trim work in the trunk. Thank goodness I don't play golf.

That's what I was about to say as well (good catch). I would have to have won the lottery or have a huge bunch of discretionary play money available to start dumping that much into a car--especially one that I anticipated selling in the future.

The car is 15 years old so John has had a fair bit of time to accumulate that investment.

I can imagine spending 10k a year on my own bad habits, and will probably end up with something a lot less noteworthy!

Couldn't remember who's car that was. It is a real temptation.
