Hello everyone!

This is my first post in this forum, except for the mandatory intro post. A couple of days ago I installed permanent battery charger cables to the battery, as I won't be driving the car (a 2004 XKR Coupe) over the long winters here in Sweden (3-5 months).

When I removed the spare tire (out of curiosity and to do some cleaning) I found a very small loose cable with a connector at the end of it. I took some pictures of it (attached) and I would very much like to know what it is. I found another loose cable, which should be the shipment battery charger cable and it was taped to the big harness close to the battery.

I also don't know what the two black plastic thingies are on the bottom of the trunk inner wall. If any one could solve the mysteries I'd appreciate it, since I'm trying to learn as much as possible about my new-to-me car.

The other unconnected cable is also used during shipping only.

The black devices in your photo are the megafuses, which provide primary power protection. It is a good idea to inspect that the cables connected to them have not loosened...this can cause all sorts of electrical faults.

 

Thank you WhiteXKR for the clarification! I'll check the cables to the fuses now and then.

I changed my battery last night and saw the same cable and wondered what it went to. Funny today to read about it and now I know. See, I'm already learning new things regarding my car.
