I've had my XKR for over 5 years now and on acquiring it I noticed a small red lamp on the steering column plastic cover (obviously not original equipment). I've ignored it for those 5 years without issue, but on my last 2 long trips it started flashing and bleeping for a few seconds. Has anyone got any idea what this may be and what its trying to tell me?

The best way to find out what the aftermarket light is for is to open up the plastic cowl and trace the connections.

Sounds like a remote indicator for a radar detector.
