Unresponsive door remote????
Hello there, Roy, a newbie here.
I have a lovely 2001 XK8 but the remote key fob is driving me nuts!
It's very sluggish and unresponsive.
I have to press the unlock button several times, whilst 'searching' for a good spot on the car to point it at. Sometimes it takes an age to open or lock the car.
Batteries??? New ones.
Clean the key fob innards??? Done it.
I had an S Type before my XK and never had anything like this.
I also have a 2008 Audi A4 and that will open at 50 yards!
Anyone have similar problems or a solution?
Roy.

microswitch contacts are worn probably (the little black dots on the rubber shell)
Order this, brush it on the dots... CaiKoteTM 44, #K-CK44-G
Do not use a "conductive ink pen" It will not stick to rubber.

p.s. I see you are in england, so you might have a hard time ordering from CAIG. Try getting an old tv remote from a thrift / second-hand store. shave the dots off with a scalpel and use silicone adhesive to glue them over the original dots.
