Unwilling Remotes

Unwilling Remotes
Hi. Both my remotes have been checked and had new batteries, but the locking/unlocking mechanism still proves very reluctant to operate.
It gets embarrassing to resort to key use and forgetting to be quick enough to put it in the ignition to prevent alarm operating. Other than agility exercises, are there any obvious/normal tips to rectify this?

Are the remotes as originally supplied in the UK, or aftermarket replaceements?
The UK and NA markets use different frequencies. Using the wrong frequency results in
correct code, but short range. The NA market fobs have a FCC number on them with
the last three digits being the frequency in MHZ.
The freqency of the antenna is marked in the glass next to the antenna using the
same material as the antenna as a stencil.
