Question Up off the ground (jacking pts)

Other than the stupid, spare jack and the body seems that it fits into,
where should you jack up a xk8 with a normal floor jack? i usually use a lift but don't always want to leave the garage to drive to my friends shop.
(stupid question i know but....)

Good question, I'm curious about this myself. Haven't had to lift mine up yet, but front bushings need replacement so I'll have to do it soon.

Later today I'll try to post a video of how I jack my car. I might not be doing it right, but it has always worked for me, and I probably jack up the car at least once per week (nothing wrong with it usually, I just like to fiddle).

Rear jacking point for a trolley jack is under the rear suspension subframe, placing a piece of wood between jack head and frame.
Front jacking point for a trolley jack is under the front body crossmember.

I've also cut a spare piece of wood to fit the factory jacking points so I can use a trolley jack there as well.

It's amazing how quick you get a reply on this forum

I've asked the same question on the swedish Jag club forum and didn't get a single reply.
Ask them anything about an XJ40 and you'll have ten replies within an hour (well, almost ) but it seems not many over here do their own maintenance on XK8/R.

Gotta love this forum

Wow, that sounds very helpful.. I'm glad others are interested in this question and it's not just me. Thanks in advance.
