From what I've been able to determine it would appear that this is another weak point with these cars. My '02 XK8 mounts need to be replaced. Are there any "heavy duty" mounts available or are we stuck with the factory units? Thank you in advance!

 

There are some rebuild kits out there, I think maybe even polyurethane options. You should be able to find a few threads by searching.

Most seem to just go for the OEM replacement though.

I just replaced mine with the units from Welsh Enterprises which have good reviews as an upgrade over stock for about $150.00 for the pair. I also replaced the lower shock bushings, upper A arm bushings and the bump stops which had completely disintegrated.

 

I have those front shock mounts too, and so far they're doing great and not crumbling, which is all I really want from suspension parts. Another vote for the Welsh poly upper shock mounts kit. Great product that appears to hold up very well. My wife's 2006 XK8 has had them in place since early January 2016. No complaints whatsoever....
