My 2004 US spec XK8 center control panel has what appears to be a rear fog light switch. The pilot light in the switch does not light, and I cannot identify a rear fog light component.
1. Is something just not functioning?
2. Is there no rear fog light in a US spec car?
3. Can a rear fog light be added to this car?

 

On my 2002 XKR the rear fog light switch activates the innermost light (with red lens) on the taillight assembly. It just looks like the brake was activated to anyone behind you , and is not a true “fog light” per se.

I don’t know if your 2004 is set up the same way, but likely is.

BTW, my indicator lamp doesn’t light up either. That has no impact on the activation of the rear “fog lamps”.

PS there’s probably something in the owners manual that covers all this. But i have t looked ….

 

(this caught me out originally): Note that the rear fog lights only work if the headlights or the front fog lights are already on.

Thanks for this. It is exactly the situation.

BTW, I have now completed the "Richard Astley" designed brake light enhancement which couples the normal outboard brake light with the inboard fog light. Seems to be a great safety mod.
