Angry very disappointed xk8 owner

When I was looking for a car to buy (because I got rear ended on the frwy buy some kid racing in a honda) after the insurance paid me off for my '97 xj6l that I really liked. I was looking on craigs list and saw a red '98 xk8 in my area. it was and still is a great looking car so I bought it cash and all was fine only thing was wrong was it had no tail lights so I fixed that and my battery kept dying and it was brand new and 'till today I cant figuer it out. But then somehow after putting on after market fog lights I go to start it and it fires up like normal and I move about 5 ft. in reverse and it dies. then I'm looking aroung engine (because it would start back up) and 3 of the 4 wires are hanging out of the throttlebody sensor and I say how inda f__k that happen? Well anyway after searching for the replacement plug #ts-090 made by sumotimo for about 2 weeks I repair it and go to start it and no start got a red failsafe mode, gearbox failer, incorrect part fitted, stability control failer and rear bulb failer and I been working at it for about a month now after fainting and falling off a wall cause I was working 12 hr days and then woring on car 'till midnight
and I still cant figuer it out and I felt I was a fairly decent backyard mechanicor so I thought. I have never had anyone work on any of my cars ever!!!
So I'm gonna take it in tomarrow for the first time in my life and then I'm gonna sell that damm lemon. I've spent counless hours in here reading and reading and theirs alot of good stuff in here and I want thanks gus, and Jaguar tech,jimc64 and a lot for their input in here much appreciated
well thats all I've got to say except that your a beautiful woman cadillac lol

Dang, why not just get a Jag replacement throttle body harness? I find it hard to believe sumotimo makes direct swap parts.

Anyway, multiple failures like that are often found after throttle body errors, or engine control module problems.

Gitter fixed, and let us know what it was. We'll help you if we can. Can you get any P codes pulled from the computer?

Take a breath, add a bit of punctuation here and there, and take it to a proper mechanic

Once you get it sorted ( a foreign word meaning 'fixed') you will be happy you kept it.

Burnnnn.

Like they said, don't give up just yet, take a minute to breathe and see what the issue ends up being. After this is taken care of, you might be left with a beautiful and reliable car.

sounds like you have issue with plastic connectors which is common with age. You cant look at them without them cracking and breaking. Also you have a possible spread/damaged pins for the throttle body which at this connection the ecu does not mess around with incongruent values(think Toyota and unintended accel) pins are avail gold plated and I would replace all the pins and go from there. see how it behaves after that.

Hey Ed--well you are probably about 45 minutes east of me if you are in Montclair. I am in the heart of the San Fernando Valley.

Nice Ed, keep us posted, hope those new pins fix you right up. And much appreciated using the forum sponsors for those purchases, you have no idea how good it is to know these vendors will go above and beyond the typical parts places/dealers when we need help troubleshooting, locating the correct parts, and related assistance.
