VIN Model Year Boundaries
Perhaps not essential to continued good living, but something that has mystified me for a (short) while, I have two 2002 MY cars with VINs that are at odds with the VIN 2002 MY number in the Jaguar-Daimler Heritage information sheet here:
https://www.jaguarheritage.com/files...is_numbers.pdf
in which it is written that A24196 is the short VIN of the introduction of the 2002 XK8 model year. Unfortunately, "not so" says two of my VINs. The last 7 numbers on those would be 2NA24043 and 2NA23809, clearly indicating 2002 model year. It is also not difficult to find others (for example, a 2PA23987 XKR is currently available for sale with 20 seconds of checking).
Anyone have a notion of why the Heritage people and the US VIN would have model year differences?

Perhaps, my 2003 (may 2002 B pillar sticker)) is A30056 but began assembly in January of 2002. BMHF only shows a 2003 final dispatch date. I got the build info from Ford site that had records of all Ford car built before sell of Jaguar. Some of parts hare carry over from the 2002 model and are later superseded with the 2003 parts.
Appreciate it Bob, that seems to have solved it.
