Default Wax on key over Jaguar face??

Previous owner covered the Jaguar face in the middle of the key with what appears to be wax, see attached. Anyone ever seen this and or have a suggestion how to ckean it off?

Appears similar to the film that some have on the trunk button that opens the boot. Some say rubbing alcohol cleans it, but I used a Plastic polish to clean my button. Perhaps it would also work on the key. Maybe an abrasive toothpaste would also work.

Rubbing alcohol indeed cleans up the trunk button (at least temporarily). I would try it on your key as well....

I think it is just the plastic itself deteriorating with age. I solved the problem on my keys by buying replacement emblems on ebay.

Does anyone have a picture of what that part of the key is supposed to look like new?

Jorge,

I had an over heating problem with non-operating electric fans. The temptation was to replace fans and radiator. Trying to keep the budget manageable I opted to replace both fans. With a cooling system flush and the new fans it runs just to to high side of "Normal". The available after market aluminum radiators will will help even more, but at $1,500 plus, I opted to start with the fans only--so far, so good.

You can make the carb conversion to make it more like a Series I car, but you're probably looking at $6,000 to $8,000 (parts only) for the triple SU carbs and manifold. May be more practical to get your baby running and sort out the absolute "Need To" items first, them think about the carburetor up-grade.
