Default Way to power electrical?

Doing massive amount of work to my '02 XK8. While waiting for all my hoses to arrive I'm going to start replacing my hydraulic lines to the top. My battery is disconnected and quite flat, and I have the intake manifold off and fuel lines plugged, however I don't want to charge the battery up and turn the ignition to II for fear of throwing codes and causing other gremlins. I need to move the fronts seats to get access to the bolts so I can take said seats out of the car. So is there a way to get power to the car through other terminals without blowing the system or the car up?

Just remove the fuel pump relay and then connect the recharged battery to the car. It will not mess anything up, and any codes set can be cleared later.

Ok, so I couldn't use the terminals that are in the engine compartment?

You can if you want, but it is more convenient usually to just use the battery. The only caution with the engine compartment terminals is not to power the starter through them because the wiring there is not rated for the starter current.

Great! That's what I thought, not planning on using the starter and I really didn't want to power up the battery only to have it sit around while I complete my laundry list of repairs. Also I didn't want to wait for the battery to charge. Thanks!
