Default Weird Cylinder issue

This is weird to me..
Cylinder one , Thought I had a bad coil so I put a new one on. I had tested a spark and it seemed intermittent so I had a coil and plugs and changed it.
When I pulled the connector nothing changes? engine sounded the same,( If I do this to any other cylinder I hear a difference ),but if I connect it and pull up the coil I hear it firing? So not electrical?
Im going to check the injectors tomorrow. It was sitting and I just got it a few weeks ago.
When I first got it was running rough, but I played around and all of a sudden Full Engine, then its been sluggish until rolling again..

Fuel Filter?? Injector? loose wire....First Jag but I'm determined...

Hi Rob,

I got a little confused mate. I'm not exactly sure of a couple of things on this one.

What are you trying to fix ?

What made you think it is broken ?

What symptoms do you have ?

Did you say that you replaced something already to fix this ?

Rob, I appreciate your clarification, hope we can help you get to the bottom of it.

Throwing parts at a Jaguar is a very expensive way of troubleshooting and, as you've found, not very accurate or effective.

Have the codes read to get a more targeted idea of what is happening.

I see you have recently reported misfiring and battery issues after a detailing, so this could be a continuation of that.

You are focussing on No. 1 cylinder: what codes are you pulling?

Default Cyl 1

Im geting cyl 1 misfire...Im thinking a clogged Injector or fuel filter.. because Im getting spark. I put new plugs and coil.
Ill update soon about injector and Im replacing filter anyway... Happen to me on my 530. Under load it just aboit died but idle great... Was original filter. Same here. Its original jag filter...

Replacing the fuel filter won't do any harm, but I doubt it would only manifest a fault on one cylinder.

It's unlikely that you have replaced a bad coil with another (although some have reported issues with non-OEM spec ones). However, it's a free check to swop it with one from another cylinder and see if the fault follows.

Check connectors carefully as you may have some corrosion if water has got in there.

Again, you need to check if any codes are thrown. Not a silver bullet, but may provide more clues.

You can also add BG44K to the fuel and see if it clears up.

SO The coils are good , swap out etc... Did the filter still the same. I want to get to the injector so my question is ,,,Do I have to remove all the injectors clips to lift the rails?? Seems like it...

I seached but see nothing....

Again, I have spark and it seems like its just cyl 1... Idle is great but on load , Driving or power braking its missing....

Thanks for the replies...

ok, I checked the injector its got 16.4 to it, I had it loose and did a shake or two to it... and I hear clicking with the screw driver test...
NOW, the trans fault has been hawking me and is on.. Car runs better but that is a issue...
I had the fault code, it went away and now is back... WTH!!!!

If you need to pull the injector this link will help. You will need to go down a little in the write up to see how.
