Default Weird electronic fault? 05 XK8

Hi guys,

I lost my sport mode, J-gate, ABS and DSC over the weekend for about 2 hours and came back....WTH??

So the story is like this: I always defaults on sport mode, I shifts with my J gate from time to time and turn off the DSC when the weather is nice and dry which is what we got here in PDX on Saturday...so anyway, I was about to pull off from a traffic light in a mean spirited way...so I put my J gate at 2nd gear...when I pressed the accelerator, the car acted as if it's in "D" but I am at 2nd??? shifting it up and down does nothing...then I realized my sports mode button is not working (no light) and felt that ABS is not working...so I ended up driving it lightly to do my errands...so after 2 restarts...suddenly everything is as normal....anyone has experienced this?? I just replaced my battery with Duralast Gold 49H8M.

so what happened there?? any clue?? it's been fine ever since....no codes nothing.

You may have to clarify a bit more, Sports mode does not affect manual shifting from 2-3-4-5(on 4.2) on the Jgate so if it wasn't shifting there's a clue. A intermittent hit on ABS maybe the sensor needs cleaned and connections checked.

Agreed. With intermittent ABS/DSC faults, you always start by cleaning all four wheel speed sensors and checking their harnesses for splits, cracks, or breaks in the wiring sheaths. Reverend Sam posted a video here a few years back that shows you exactly how to do this using a small bowl of water mixed with dishwashing detergent and an old toothbrush....

Yes I know about the wheel sensors being dirty...however I don't get any message at all...no error code no nothing....and when the sport's mode was out so does my ability to manual shift ... u can put it in 2-3-4-5 but in actual it's in "D" ... that's why I said it's weird...been driving it for 2 days now and everything is fine.... so confused.

There are a couple relays/switches within the shift mechanism, search the forums I've seen them discussed before, verify they are adjusted correctly and any electrical connectors are seated properly, I think you need to remove the center console but check the orig threads. Sorry I cant think where they were listed
