Weird Transmission Fault
It's been getting cold some night here lately. And when starting the car the xk8 I get a transmission fault as soon as the car starts. This is before I put it gear It only happens when the outside temperature is 40F or lower. I let it get to operating Temp and turn the car off and restart it and it is fine. I get an engine light sometimes and the code I pull up is P0763 which is solenoid c. As I said it only happens when the temp is cold and the car has set around 8 hours. One other thing I noticed is it takes longer to crank when cold and I'm thinking it is battery related. Thoughts?

If you can get under the car you want to look at the bayonet plug to the transmission (the one connecting to the trans) and see if you have a poor connection in one of the pins. Use a good contact cleaner and a little dielectric grease. Not a common problem with Jag but has been noted with other ZF transmissions.
