Well, Im on to my next project today
Fantastic job, certainly makes me jealous of your undercarriage (wouldn't say that to a woman).
I'm trying to find my u-joint grease nipples ( this post is going downhill rapidly) but am not quite sure what i'm looking for, or exactly where it is.
Did you happen to take any pics of the u-joints showing the grease nipples?
Might help some people out if you did, especially me.

The new ones do have them tho. As does the new u-joint for the driveshaft.
Sorry
I figured a man wouldn't be so touchy about references to his undercarriage as a woman, but perhaps it would be better not to analyze that comment too much and just move on to the nipples
From what I understood the earlier XK8's and R's had u-joints with grease nipples, but the later post 2006 XK/R's have CV joints with no nipples.
It's probably not as simple as that but if your car has no grease nipples on the u-joints then i'll have to try and find out if my u-joints are serviceable by other means.
I did not intend to side track your thread by asking about grease nipples, it's just that your pics are the best I've seen of the entire rear suspension and drive train removed from the car, and they are also the cleanest rear suspension/drive train parts I've ever seen.
Keep up the good work, you are showing us all what's possible.

That's just stunning. Honestly, without the colors I always had trouble holding in my mind how all the components fit together.
I have in mind a less-ambitious effort ... trying to exorcise some noisy demons who may live in the driveshaft of my '03. Questions:
- What source did you use to spec' the driveshaft u-joint? I'm told Jaguar doesn't offer replacements. (My '03 driveshaft is different, has 2 u-joints, but maybe they're the same.)
- Did you have any noise sources before the rebuild that were traced to the driveshaft components?
TIA.

Most of my components I searched for on the web, but as far as the drive shaft u-joints I actually brought one in to have it "matched up" at advanced auto parts. I did have a tough time finding it. Many auto parts stores and a couple " specialty shops" visited until I just brought it in and left it with them to match it up with something they may have had in stock. I think I put a contact number for the girl (Charlene) who found it for me. No, didn't have any problems ith noise before the rebuild. I just wanted to familiarize myself with the car and clean it all up. Give me a couple days and I may be able to look thru my receipts and find a part number.
