There’s a 2004 XKR400 Coupe for sale and pics reveal that no back-plate shields are fitted behind it’s brake discs.
Does anyone know if these were deleted in the later models?
They are strangely not shown on the Jaguar drawing for front Brembo fitted late vehicles. Is there any benefit removing them?

l believe the brembo shield was unique. My 2000 xkr has brembos and shields.
The non brembo shield needs modification to fit with brembos maybe a previous owner retrofitted the brembos and decided no shields was easier than modification.
My XKR with Brembo has the brake shield although it's caused me a few headaches where a rock would get wedged in betweenit and the brake disc which would make a terrible sound. I thought my bearing was failing for a good week before I found the tiny peice of tarmac stuck in there. They just resurfaced the roads.
My 2004 xkr had them removed as they had simply disintegrated. The brembo specific brake shields are MXD1933AA and MXD1932AA. They are not available to buy unless in kits where someone tries to sell you the whole calliper upgrade kit for about £1200- £1500. Oddly I did manage to find a whole front right spindle with one of the pair on in the USA and now shipping it over. Could take another year or two to find the other one.
if anyone is looking for one of the brembo size brake shields you can get a hub with a MXD1933AA from noma in the us. I imported both a left and right hub from them
and happy.
