Western Canada Vacation
Well, me and my wife got back from our 11 day trip through western Canada. Through the Rocky Mountains, all the way to the west coast and across to Vancouver Island. Fabulous vacation, but not without some issues.
Start is Edmonton, Alberta. Day one we drove down to southern Alberta to the B.C. boarder and toured the Crowsnest Pass area. This area is famous for a 1903 slide where a huge chunk of a mountain leveled part of a mining town. The picture I have posted has the field of limestone from the slide in the background.
Day two, just outside Creston B.C., the power in the XKR dropped and I was forced to pull over. It sounded like only 2 cylinders were firing. I let it sit for a few minutes, checked coolant and oil, and for any loose wiring. All was fine. Started it up and after 3-4 seconds of rough running it roared to life again as if nothing ever happened. The great thing was that we were able to make it to Creston and make the last tour of the Columbia Brewing Company for the day! Great tour of where Kokanee Beer is brewed.
Day three-four was relaxing on the shores of Kooteney Lake.
Day five-seven into the Okanogan area (lake and wine country). It was very hot and my AC crapped out. Not only could I not get cold air, but it would only blow out the vents, no matter what setting I put it on.
Day seven-nine out to the west coast and take the ferry over to Vancouver Island. Nice area but realistically a pain with the ferries and the cost of everything is high. There are so many great places to go, I will probably never go back.
Day nine-eleven, relaxing pace back to Edmonton. Unfortunately last travel day hit rain. Not having the ability to turn my defrost on (still just blowing out vents) was a bit of an issue.
11 days, over 2500 kms, and a great vacation. We love taking the Jag, but now it will be going into the shop to solve this AC issue. One thing for sure, we will be taking the Jag again on another vacation next year... just not sure where.

Did you drive across Vancouver island to Tofino? One of my favorite drives, first hour from Nanaimo is straight-ish highway, but then you hit the mountain switchbacks and the scenery is breathless!
No didnt go to Tofino. Didnt have allot of time on the island. The island part was more of a obligatory family visit. Definitely had our share of scenery. Stayed to the less travelled secondary highways. Saw allot of wild life on the highway including 3 bears and numerous deer, which is unusual.
And sorry Im new to all this, and still trying to figure out the pictures part. Will keep trying.

I finally figured out how to have a picture on my signature! And i just created a photo album under the same the name of Western Canada Vacation. Unfortunately some of my photos wont download, possibly due to size. Also I realize I should take way more photos than what I did.
Graham, I will check that out. Let me know if my photo album I just set up is visible.

Jeff, Sounds like a great trip. I had been planning to do almost the same trip this summer (I am in Calgary) but due to other commitments have not got round to it, next year for sure
Please post some photos to inspire me....So far since May 15th this year when I brought my jag out of storage for the first time since purchasing it last November I have done 10,000 trouble free kM’s in the best car I have ever owned all due to the invaluable help of the good folks on this forum. (A big thanks all)
Pomosv, I will certainly be asking for local hot spots info when I finally get round to the trip, nothing like local knowledge.
Regards,
Karl
