Default What is this?

There is a mounting bracket on the left side fender, what is it for?

That's for the flux capacitor.

I'm sure that there is something there on my 1997 XK8 which has a black plastic notched cap and an electrical connection but I can't remember what is actually is.

My car is under a cover in the garage so not easy to look but there must be someone who could have a quick peek in their engine bay.

Here's my 1998 engine bay. Believe this is part of the emission system (purge valve?). More technical folks should be able to clarify.

Definitely not flux capacitor. Those were only fitted on the UK cars.

Perhaps not installed on Canadian spec cars as no indication anything removed.

97 xk8, very early vin, here’s what’s in mine…

don’t know exactly what it is but if it’s there it “might” be important, if not there and no codes, lights or problems, all good

By the way, I’m in USA and car was sold originally for USA market, left hand drive. Could have been phased out? Not totally sure, but definitely in my car

Purge control valve.
I can't find anything specific of note that Canadian cars were different.

Jaguar seems to have tinkered with this somewhat as there are several flavours:

Mine is as Jag#4 and stevis05

Mine is a 1999 and there is no indication that there was ever anything attached to the bracket and no wires or hoses in the vicinity. Runs flawlessly.

Perfect. The bracket is from the first diagram, my system appears to be the Mexico variety, thank you.

A fine example of “whatever is in the parts bin today”.
