+1 on Sapphire Metallic (JHE). I think the interior is Ivory (NED). A nice combo if I do say. The neatness of the engine bay leaves something to desire.

+1 on Sapphire Blue / Ivory (same as my 2001 XK8)

+1 on the Engine Bay (£200 off the asking price for that!)

Thanks for that. Its a wonder these guys dont pay attention to detail. I wont be buying from this guy anyway if he cannot answer my questions.

I dont think its an Ivory interior. The Ivory interior I have seen is more of a browny off white colour.

As for the engine bay that would be a quick fix for me. An hour cleaning then spray with Amourall and leave it overnight and it should come up a treat. My mechanic says its the only engine he works on where he has to wash his hands before working on it.

So now I am looking for a Saphire metalic blue exterior and a nice cream interior. XKR.

So thanks again guys

Nope, I have to vote Ivory (NED) with everyone else.

Mine is not a browny, off-white color. That would be too easy to clean and not show so much dirt.

Perhaps the guy either never cleaned his or he gave me the wrong colour, looked like dirty cardboard.

But at least I know my colour preferences, type of car etc etc now. Thanks to you guys on this forum I am much better informed.

That is a very nice colour. The interior I was shown was the same colour as the steering wheel centre.

If this one was a little younger Id have it. It's a bit of a quandry for me. Lovely car at a good price but overpriced for a car that old. If you can understand that contradiction. In other words I dont really want to pay that much money, no matter how good value it is, for a 1998 car.

Lovely car though........... Nice chap too James. Reponded nicely to my enquires.

The car.....

This phrase would put me off:

"This is my second XK, having progressed earlier this year from an 8 to the R I'm now looking to upgrade again to a newer model hence the sale of this one."

Done all that work only to sell after a few months and only has 4 months test on it ........

I still think the last one you posted about is worth viewing even though they wouldn't reply to your eMails!

Hmmm thats true. Perhaps he just put in a good advert.......... Also the aircon isn't working? Personally I think that could be the compressor......... I wonder how much it would cost to get that done............??

You can always use any faults as a way to knock the price down. It's a buyers market in the UK. Anyone selling their XK8/XKR at the moment is doing so because they have to.

The usual thing with Aircon is needing a re-gas which is low cost but a compressor can turn into an expensive fix.

After following advice from several US members on the forum (who have much greater experience and need for Aircon than we do in the UK!), I re-gassed my last 2005 XK8 using a kit from Halfords.

Easy to do and great result. Remained beautifully chilled in temperatures exceeding 100 deg F in southern Spain during the summer.

I have no worries if it was just a re-gas needed. My local garage charged me (no pun intended) £30 last time I had it done on my BMW. Worth doing. Trouble is I would not know until I had gone to get it done.

Anyway not getting that car now. If its still on sale next year........ maybe.
