Default What mods to do in stages?

So, my 2003 XKR is essentially sorted. I am now wondering what mods to do in what order. I'd like to do them in stages so I fully know what each component adds. Plus it keeps me busy longer.

I'd like to get a better sound. Nothing obnoxious, but a deeper growl on acceleration and maybe startup. Performance gains would be great too. Again, nothing crazy.

I'd like to start small so I was thinking of the Mina intake tube, replacing the accordion. Is this a good start for low hanging fruit? I'd love to see product recommendations and order.

Thanks!

I removed the two before axle resonators for a little more sound, helped but still very quite. Then I added the Mina intake, that did the trick! When I punch it the increased intake sound plus the little extra exhaust sound are just right for me.

It's not a hey look at me I'm trying to be noticed sound but rather a yes this is a tuned performance car sound.

As far as added performance I'd say none but it does feel/ sound better.

There are those that will chime in and say the Mina intake actually reduces performance due to pulling in hot engine air, all I can say is that I have a scan guage installed and can monitor intake air temp. At a stop light, yes the intake air temp goes up but as soon as I start moving it drops to just above ambient temp.

I removed the mufflers behind the rear wheels with straight pipe and stainless aftermarket tips. I'd say 20% louder on acceleration and a very slight drone in town on part throttle. Quiet on the freeway. On an XKR I'd get the smaller blower pulley. I would also verify the throttle cable is adjusted for wide open with the floor mat in place. It's adjusted just above the brake master cylinder once you remove the plastic cover. I found the procedure on YOUTUBE.

The exhaust pipes threading through the rear axle are pretty small for a 400hp car. I would think these would become a bottleneck pretty early in the modding process.

Gotta agree with Ungn. You'd be stunned to see how narrow the exhaust pipes "choke down" where they go up & over. It's hard to believe Jaguar considered that even remotely sufficient for a Supercharged engine. I have a 2 1/2" custom system with the pipes running under the axles. They do touch the ground on occasion, but not too badly. Kinda looks a bit mean from the back too.

Do you have the Brembo brakes? That might be a nice upgrade. They were only optional on the '03. My PO had them retrofitted. I don't know how well the stock brakes worked, but the Brembos will pull your eyes out of their sockets! And I only have the 18" wheels; the wider tires on the 20 wheels would stop even more dramatically.
