Default What are the rectangles between pins on the Restraint Control Module diagram

Does anyone know what the small rectangles shown between some pins on the 'outside' of the Restraint Control Module are in the electrical guide?

I'm investigating an issue where the Airbag warning light on the instrument cluster doesn't illuminate (causing the 5 x 5 'bings' when the car is started). Problem may not be a bulb (it started when the yellow connector FC26 was unplugged), so I'm tracing wires (carefully, with the battery disconnected)
I've highlighted the rectangle below:

Should be a resistor, perhaps in the connector FC8 between pin 15 and 16. Do not see this in the 2001 on the corresponding line, so perhaps fixed some issue with charge buildup?

They are 'shorting-bars' inside each connector.
When a connector is unplugged, the 'shorting-bar' connects across the wires. (creating a 'short-circuit')
This helps to prevent a 'stray' current from causing accidental airbag deployment.

The interesting thing is that this one is on the line to the instrument panel, rather than just the airbag/pretensioner pyro lines. Assume they added it to bleed charge when disconnected (or maybe they left it off the diagram for the 01-02), but why this helps is not particularly obvious to me. Details must be in the circuit in the restraint module.
