There's a standard 3 prong plug in the trunk of my 2001 XK8. Looks factory installed , what's it for ?
Thanks

May be the shipping lead, tape it up so it can't short out.

If it's near the battery, then it's for the Transit Relay:

Used during shipping from the factory to prevent a flat battery.

Removed and discarded by the dealer at PDI. The lead should be tucked away behind the trim.

If it was originally a California car, that plug may be the power supply for the on-board passenger-seat Sybian. I think it was a San Fernando Valley option....

It looks like a block heater plug 110 volt like on an extension cord the plug is on the other side of the trunk and the cord bundle runs
behind the battery and into the panel by the right rear seat . Beats me ??

No it's a Canadian car, shipped to Toronto in June / 2000. I have the original paper work.

Looks like the yellow connector used for my blue tooth device but mine is located in the center console.

There should be three connectors in front of the battery, two of which will be unused and one that might or might not be used. The two surely unused are a three way plug with two wires - a Brown/Red and a Brown/White - and a single way plug with a White/Green wire. These were both used by the Transit Relay that was removed by the dealer before selling the car. That relay allowed the car to be used in a limited fashion, but without any quiescent battery drain when stored, The third connector is the Accessory Connector that is a three way plug with three wires - Red/White, ignition switched supply, Brown/Green, permanent battery supply and Black, ground/earth. Use it as required if fitting some new accessory in that area. There is another such power plug tucked up by the glove box - same coloured wires.

The ignition switched supply to these accessory plugs is not available without the accessory relay and fuse that might or not have been fitted in the trunk fuse box at birth, depending on the option fit.
