What's causing that burnt smell in my 05 XKR ? I have a 03 XJR that I can step on and only smell rubber. But my when I step on my 05 XKR I smell burnt fluid. I'm running Castrol 5w30 Full Synthetic. Any Ideas ?I also smell that sweet smell of antifreeze when at idle. I know there's a leak but II can not find it. Haven't had to add any fluid so I know it's small. Where should I check. An finally, the Suspension Fault Light is on. I bought the car last year. She unfortunately came with 20's, so the Ole girl rises hard. Momma's getting some new shoes BBS Milan 8 x18 for the front and 9 x 18 for the rear. I had the shock checked out, I was told they're good. But the car bottoms out when I go over speed bumps scrapping the front bumper splash guard. Could a bad coil cause this ? What else should I Check ? I trust you all experiences and expertise in advising me in these matters. Thanks Again Gals and Guys
In my experience a burnt smell is usually brakes. Either a draging parking brake, draging pad or foreign material stuck in there.
If you smell anti-freeze and there is no leak the most likely culprit is a leak inside the heater core that gets into the heating vents. Since you have a coupe this is easier to diagnose, if the anit-freeze smell is inside the car but not outside it is almost certainly related to the heater core.
Hey auburn2 thanks for your input I will follow your lead a check the parking brake and pads to see if there is any dragging or material stuck in there. Also I will check the heater core for leaks.
Thanks Again
If it only happens when you really get on the gas, another idea could be that the intercoolers are not cooling - coolant pump issue or air in system, etc.

This is often caused by pinholes in the base of the Expansion Tank. When hot it allows minute quantities of coolant to drop onto the hot exhaust below where it flashes off to vapour immediately with the characteristic sweet smell.
Thanks JimmyL I will take a Look at the norma connector too. All these pieces I suspect are plastic on they are prone to fail.
Thanks Again for the input
