The height of the gas pedal in my 2001XK8 and the length of my legs mean my driver's seat is a couple inches short of all the way back, and my right leg is very comfortable.
BUT THAT LEAVES MY LEFT FOOT SWINGING FREE. The foot rest is so, so far away... so I got to thinking, and ordered one from ebay with both pieces and the bolts, and took a little trip to the local hardware store...
First things, first, I stuck my head under the bolster and made sure the new base plate would sit on top of the properly installed one, lined up as far left as possible without interfering with the clips on the extension under it, if that makes sense. No interference, my plan should work...
Drilled 2 1/4" holes in the new extension plate

I bought shorter 6Mx1.0 bolts, but the OEM ones were actually perfect. The Neoprene lined washers were to prevent damage to the plastic.
Assembled.
The other side.
Viola!
Snapped right into place on top of the originally installed base plate, and gives an extra couple of inches. Could even snap the second extension on if needed, but this is perfect for me.
