Default What's the problem??

My 2001 Jaguar XK8 was running fine yesterday morning, but when I started it up that afternoon the engine would turn over, but then would die. Had the battery recharged thinking that was maybe the problem, but the same thing happened. No engine lights are on to give me some kind of heads up, but nothing. Anyone else have this happen? If so, I need some feedback because I'm not sure how familiar the mechanic is who is looking at the car today. My husband had the car towed to a nearby garage and I'm not feeling this guy will know what to do.

Welcome to the forum luvcats,

Don't forget to post an intro in the new members section.
I've moved your post to the tech section.

Without any more info I'd suspect the fuel pump, they have been known to fail suddenly.

First thing to check is the battery voltage under cranking load. I know you said you charged it but that said nothing about the state of the battery.

These cars will rotate the engine at a voltage below required by the electronics to function.

After you know your battery is really good the fuel system is next. There are no sensors in that system. Fuel pressure should be 45psi +- at the fuel rail Schrader valve.

After you verify those two systems check back and we will guess some more.

For Atlanta area folks there is a Cars-n-Pizza in Kennasaw Saturday

A successful start requires [rotating engine] + [spark] + [fuel].

Running fine yesterday, turning over OK today with no warning lights makes fuel pump more likely than electronics.

Yep, sounds like another fuel pump that decided to give up the ghost. The two biggest fears I have with my wife's 2006 XK8 are the fuel pump and the green shower. Neither one is either easy or inexpensive to repair....
