Wheel central cap

Wheel central cap
Came home from a ride yesterday only to notice I'd lost one of my wheel caps. I've seen from other older threads this happens from time to time and have already ordered another; its the 3D growler type with a green background at £25 (incl postage).
Those threads make a lot of reference as to the options for removing the badges, but my question is, what's the best way to install them and at the same time trying to ensure they stay on there for as long as possible?
I noticed that there must have been some sort of adhesive or sealant applied to the back of the badge that came off, which was prob done when the wheel was off. Is this standard practice, or do you just click them in and job done?

Hi Jules,
I have recently replaced all 4 of my centre caps for the, in my opinion, much better 3D growler type. In the original packaging there was no adhesive so I just clipped them in as they are a push fit. As I have the 20" Detroits I also fitted them with the chin of the growler pointing to the valve so at a glance you know exactly where it is.

+1 to no adhesive
The four lugs are sufficient to retain the Centre Cap.
The usual reason for losing a Cap is one of the lugs being broken when removing / replacing it. Three lugs doesn't hold it properly. This could be why yours has traces of adhesive on it? Previous attention from those well known Motor Engineers - BodgeIt & Run.
When you come to fit the new replacements, clean the wheel centre section thoroughly. The Cap should click into position but be able to rotate with minimal pressure on the lugs.
