Where is the VIN?
Hi.
I am about to move to Portugal, and need a so-called certificate of conformity from Jaguar for my 2005 XKR convertible. They will provide this once I have answered a range of questions and paid them £100 (relatively good price from Jaguar!)
They need photos of the VIN in three places. This is what they say:
• A clear photo of the VIN Plate showing the vehicle weights
• A clear photo of the VIN stamped to the chassis
• A clear photo of the VIN at the windscreen
Even I can sort out the VIN on the windscreen, but could you let me know where the other two are - or refer to any posts that might guide me (I couldn't find any, but I suspect such posts do exist).
Thanks!

The vin plate with the weights is a sticker on the passenger door pillar (where the striker plate is).
The chassis vin is in the boot, IIRC you take the spare wheel cover off and you should see it in front of you.
Before spending £100, are you absolutely sure you need the CoC?

Not disagreeing . . . but take care with advice re VIN locations . . . often varies in content and placement according to market, so always check for location according to your local market. Contained in the introductory section of workshop service manual . . . see Stickies here or Gus' JagRepair.com . . . both free downloads.

This is the Manufacturer sticker on my 2005 XK8 passenger door pillar:

To see and photograph the stamped VIN on a European specification XK8, you will need to remove the spare wheel. The number is stamped into the metal at the front of the battery platform.

Look along the metal lip I've arrowed in blue in the photo. The VIN stamp is hidden by the spare wheel.

Thanks, Dibbit and Cat-As-Trophy.
It seems that Portugal has pretty onerous matriculation requirements, which include a very detailed car check and the CoC. I have already sourced some right-hand dip headlights - the don’t accept beam converters, so I am preparing for this as well as I can. It will all get more difficult when we are over there, I have little doubt!

And thanks to GGG. I had feared that to get to the chassis VIN I would have to crawl ubder the car!
Edit. I like the idea crawling ubder my car, so I won’t edit it.

You’re lucky, Graham. Mine is convertible so, since it is now officially ‘Spring’ i will have no choice and am mandated to drive with the top down (unless the latch is frozen).
It's grim Up North.

He's a shame to the marque.
