Question Window Washer - Don't quite understand

I have never been able to get the Widow Washer Pump (the Wiper Blades and motor are OK)) to work with any degree of certanity. About a year ago I posed the same question and The Rev replied that the Washer Pump is supposed to act intermitantly (sp?). This I do not quite understand.

The Pump has on sporadic occassion introduced Water onto the Windshield. But not every time I push the button on the end of the Wiper Control and/or after repeated pushes. Again, I do not understand the rhyme, reason or sequence of the Pump operation.

Anyway, about a year later now and having never been able to get the Washer to work with any regularity or on demand. I decided it was about time to remedy the problem with Winter coming up. I checked the 30 Amp #7 Fuse in the Engine Comp't (it is Good) and installed another (known to be good) Washer Pump. Again the same thing, no Water on the Windshield and no noise from the Pump. After several minutes and repeated pushing of the button, finally it came to life. Pushed the button agin and nothing. Pushed it three times and nothing. Pushed it while the Wipers were moving, nothing.

There must be a Module (or the Devil) controlling the sequence and operation of the Washer Pump. What am I missing and/or doing wrong?

Not sure what the problem could be, the button/switch itself, perhaps. Check the pump for current.

What I think you are referring to regarding Rev Sam's comment on intermittent operation of the windshield washer is actually about the headlamp washer, which operates on every sixth press of the windshield washer button. The windshield washer should squirt every time you press the button.

Washer works at all...power is there. Try cleaning the contact points on your washer button on your washer control arm. ..it might be that. Bud

I had a windshield washer pump the didn't work at all. What I did was take a can of compressed air and cleared the fluid lines. Then I took the pump off and cleaned the electrical connections. Everything works now.
