Default Windscreen Clips

I am having my windscreen (windshield ?) replaced in a few days as it has developed a crack. Not sure about the US and elsewhere, but in the UK, this is usually done by an "approved contractor" for the insurance company. They are usually pretty good, and I'm confident in a decent job EXCEPT that they probably won't bring new trim retaining clips as, in theory, the old ones can be re-used. However, after many years encased in black gunge, I think that's unlikely.

So - does any one know how many trim retaining clips are required - JTIS is a bit vague - there's one diagram that seems to show 14 of them, and another which shows far fewer. The S N G Barratt catalogue just states "as required". I'm talking about JZE100030 which hold the decorative trim surround to the glass before it is pressed into the sealant.

Cheers,
David.

David, I replaced my 98s windshield last year, they were able to reuse the clips. I hope you're goes as smoothly.

one thing, be ready to reseat the defroster ducts with window out access if needed.

Thanks John. I am going to order a few "just in case" - it isn't much money, and might make things easier once the surgery begins !!

Hi David,
I had my Screen changed by Autoglass last year. They did the whole job on my driveway (Essex UK). They used most of the old clips but three were deformed. They replaced them with spares they had in their van. Very impressive !!
I remember seeing 3 clips down each Pillar but I can't remember how many were top and bottom.

Default Thanks

Thanks for all the helpful hints.. I was able to order a complete set of 14 from a fairly local Jaguar dealer for about $9 a piece. So the whole job including the new clips will end up costing about $500 and I'm perfectly ok with that..
unfortunately the deductible for my insurance is $500, so there's that!
Again thanks
