Default Windscreen washer issue

When I bring the wiper stalk toward me, the wipers work but washer fluid doesn't come out. It will come out if I press the end of the stalk. What could be causing this? Is it an MOT fail issue?
There is a leak in the reservoir as after filling, within 4 or 5 days the sign comes up to top up the reservoir even if it hasn't been used. By my calculations, only about 2 litres has leaked out from what I think is a 7 litre capacity?
Any advice/comments most welcome!

That’s normal behavior for these cars.

The tank is in the front left corner within the bumper cover. Remove the wheel well liner and inspect it for cracks. Trace the hoses and inspect then for leaks when operating the washer system.

Well it used to work. Is it an electrical/wiring problem do you think or will something need to be replaced?

The normal function is that pulling causes the wipers to move but no fluid to squirt. The button on the end of the stalk is what causes the pump to activate and the washer to squirt washer fluid. That's how it was designed and from your description, it is working as intended by Jaguar.

If it used to work the other way around, you are either mis-remembering or there was something wrong with your car that fixed itself.
