Default Windscreen washer not workng on 2000 model XKR

I noticed today there was no water coming out of the windscreen washers.

I can't hear the motor working but the headlamp washers do work.

Has anyone any ideas where to start

Kind Regards

Turn the key to the on position but do not start the car. Activate the windscreen washers. If the pump is working then you should be able to hear it. If it is working, then I would check for water underneath the vehicle. It may just be a broken plastic fitting or rubber hose.

I just replaced a broken plastic T fitting on mine two weeks ago. The Jaguar OEM T was $70. A plastic 5mm T at the local garden shop cost $5.

If the pump isn't working , then you'll need to check for power to the pump.

The screen washers and headlamp washers have separate pumps in the same reservoir. One pump can fail and the other still work. The reservoir is behind the LH wheelarch liner.

As the headlamp washers are working, the steering column stalk switch must be OK.

If you can hear the screen washer pump working, check for disconnected piping or blocked 'duck bills' - the three neoprene nozzles the water should emerge from.

No evidence of water could simply be a fault in the harness connection to the screen washer pump but is more likely to be a failed pump.

if it is like my 03 the hoses for it run from the motor/pump through the drivers side black cover over the brake master cyc. Look there and follow the hose in. You will have to pull the cowl covers to see it but like said above, mine was broken the same way, I was able to pull the hose out and see clearly the issue.

Can't hear anything so sounds like a failed pump or bad connection. Either way I see it's wheel off and the inner wheel arch needs removing, bit of a pain now

Many thanks

Default power wash failure - where does this cable go?

Darn this has just happened to me (2001 XKR).

Fuse is OK, relay is OK (oh and reservoir is full).
No motor sound at all so I guess a pump failure.

Any advice / walkthrough on how to replace the pump would be much appreciated

Edit:
So I've just taken of the wheel arch inspection panel to take a look at the reservoir etc.
Totally dry, no obvious leaks from tubes.
What I did find was a "spare" unconnected cable dangling down to the side of the reservoir.

There is no obvious socket for this to go into so I'm wondering whether it is spare and used for the non-powerwash versions or could it just be the reason my washers aren't working?

Anybody know what this cable is for and where it goes?

I've just seen this thread https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...acement-72467/
and from the photo in post 12 it seems the cable is also hanging down.
Just ordered a used reservoir and pumps for £90 off eBay. I'll get it fitted in 2 weeks when I have the MOT done.
