3 weeks ago I swapped out my Crankshaft Position Sensor as I got the P1245 code with rough running and engine stalls etc. I noticed from the passenger side of the engine bay looking down (RHD) that this wire was disconnected: Macro view from above Micro image - loose connector on the left
I could not find where this connector went so I gave up and cleared the code.
The car ran perfectly for 40kms over the next 2 weeks. However, I drove the car yesterday as it had sat still for over a week and immediately the turn over was a bit cranky. It ran fine for about 7km then the engine fault light came on and it stalled on me when I came to a stop. I got the P1245 AND P0355 codes this time. I had no option but to get home and after two more stalls the engine light went off and it ran fine!!!
However, after checking the CP sensor (fine) I saw this connector again. I have a funny feeling that this connector is part of the Crankshaft Position Sensor wiring and is the reason why I am getting the codes.
I assume that the CKPS connector has 3 wires connected to it, Yellow, Purple and Braid?
Are both the wires in the photo Black /White Stripe?
What does the B/W wire which goes off to the right actually connect to? Can you trace it off to the right?
Have you checked the engine management system relay in the engine management fuse box? I believe that the Braid wire goes to this relay via a Black/Green Stripe wire so an intermittent problem with that relay would cause an intermittent CKPS fault. If it a standard relay, you could just swap it out but I suspect it might be soldered in.

That wire can't possibly be a part of the problem you are experiencing otherwise you would have a permanent issues and not be able to drive for 2 weeks without issue. Looks like the wire that goes to the aircon pump, but can't be sure.
I suspect that is one of the two connections to the compressor lock sensor, which is peculiar to MY97. If so, it would have been in a 2-way connector..
Perhaps the A/C compressor was changed at some point in the past?
It's unlikely to be related to either of your DTCs

The compressor lock sensor wires are Black with White Stripe and Slate with Black Stripe. I think yours might fit this description?
There are several common Black with White Stripe wires to the A/C modules. If yours are both B/W then they are probably part of the common wiring which is why one wire is still connected. If the A/C works well then it's all OK and is nothing to do with the misfire.

Jeez - thanks for the fabulous replies fellas, I am blown away with the help put forward in such a short space of time. I will investigate the A/C connection as that does seem more logical.
