Question Would a 2001 XJR Differential fit?

What are the differences between an XJ and XK8 rear differential?

I want to eventually build a Rear axle with a Quaife and I can pull an XJ/XJR rear axle from the junkyard for cheap.

What has to be changed on an XJ rear axle center section to be used in an XK8?

The pinion shaft and propshaft flange are different.

Thanks, Bob!

From the parts catalog, it appears that if the "Companion Flange kit" is swapped with XK8 parts, the differentials could potentially interchange.

I'm sure its more complicated than this, but it looks like the differentials are basically the same other than the input flange.

You can cut the locating dowel on the Sedan Pinion shaft and install the 4 bolt flange for the XK but going the other way would leave you without the dowel to center the JURID coupler.
