Ozbot,

Checking back with you on your Wheels again Do the Jaguar Growler Hub Covers! The ones that come with the BBS Wheels, fit these wheels? Just checking!
They are something new to look at...ope you like them!

I would love to get some Jaguar growler hub covers in green to match the side badge in front of the door. I'm going to see what size they are and start looking on Ebay or Amazon for a set and put them on when I take the car out of hibernation in April. How I envy you folks that get to drive their Jags all year. I tell you I'm chomping at the bit every spring.

Sometimes the ebay ones will basically be a stick-on badge on top of a center cap. So even if the center cap itself doesn't fit, you might be able to peel the badge off and stick it on your existing covers.

Right on guys, thanks for your efforts and suggestions. I'm hoping that by the end of the month enough of the snow will be gone that I can put the car on the driveway to work on it.

Brought this in Japan years ago, have it in storage in NZ. Real head turners on the roads over here when you get them out

This is my pride and joy. She’s a ‘96 build XK8 and she’s just come back from a significant overhaul and respray. This photo predates that, but I intend to get some new images once the weather here improves. I am lucky enough to also have an ‘02 XJ8 and will try to get some pictures of the two of them together in the summer. Hope that you like!

Default Number plate locations.

Whilst I’m here, quick question. Before I replace the stick on, E-type style of reg plate following the respray, what would you guys do? (Sadly, no plate on the front is not an option here in the UK). Here’s some options I’m considering:

Below is my preference, for what it is worth. Maybe you could do one of those hide away retracting type mounts.

gerardbooth:

Personally I like the first Photo best! Having the Plate in the middle of the Grill seems to look best to me....It sort'a fits there! Makes it look (w i d e r)......
Since the Headlights are from the First Models (prior to 2003) they look OK, but if you were to paint them Black, as in the 2003 - 2006 Models, it would really make it POP! You've done a great job with the Coupe! Congratulations!
It's not Black but it's beautiful....

i will recommand that you check AliExpress for the Jaguar Grawler hub cap. Quality is excellent and as good as OEM (they are probably made in China any way) and price is unbeatable.

geraldbooth,

I realize you just had a re-spray.....and it really looks great.....but have you also used one of the new Acrylic Polishes over that? It really shines!

Overall, one of the best looking X-100's I've seen....Love it! "But it still isn't Black!"

Thanks for the lovely comments Billy. Following the respray she was professionally machine polished and then, just this weekend, I washed, panel wiped and applied a coat of ceramic sealant to the paintwork. She looks even better now than in the pictures. Hoping to keep her that way as well through a combination of pampering and TLC!

Best wishes.

While admiring your Coupe, I thought back over the past to 1998,when I bought my first XK8 Coupe...It was a 98 Topaz Coupe with Revolver Wheels! I found it on the internet at a Mercedes Dealer in Louisville, Kentucky and wanted it so Badly that I drove through the Night from Houston, up through Mississippi, Tennessee until I finally got there about 2PM the next Day and did the deal....Left the Dealership my Gold Lincoln Mark VIII and then headed back Home...I just plain LOVED it....until the Right Bank Tensioner went out and Cost me 2 or 3 Thousand Bucks! (I won't go into that anymore)....Anyway, this Lady chased me down one afternoon and made me wait until her Husband could come write me a Check for it, as She was not going Home without it....A Texas Beauty and She knew what She wanted!

After that, I have only bought Black XKR Coupe's and as you know, I'm still driving my 4th one! You have taken great care of your Beauty! Congratulations on having a real Winner!

A true stunner Billy! Just gorgeous.

I’ve had plenty of black cars in the past and probably would have one again. They do look peerless when clean, but there lies the rub! I have a current E type estate (wagon?) in metallic red as my daily and also, as you’ll have seen from my signature, an 02 XJ8 in quartz grey for goodness knows what (other than it’s just so damn elegant and smooth). My wife has a BMW 3 series with the folding metal hard top in dark blue metallic. That always looks stunning when clean and we hard a ceramic coat applied by the dealer when we purchased it. It’s still beading water some 5 years later with only occasional applications of a rinse aid wax when washed. Dark colours are certainly the best for shine.

Re for your correspondence with Michaela in Jersey, lovely island that I last visited about 30 years ago. Only one small problem with the place as I recall - 40mph blanket speed limit! Try the Isle of Man and the mountain roads in the middle of the island to really exercise an XK8R - no speed limit at all!

...ah, the good old days! It's now a muddle of 15, 20, 30 and 40mph. Some appropriate, some defying all logic.

Back in the 1990’s I was on the island for a few days for work purposes. Hired a basic Ford Fiesta from the airport. Sadly, Avis had none available so upgraded me to a brand new Escort XR3i. May only have been able to do 40mph, but no law about which gear to do it in. My partner in crime later swore that the car went back to Avis with 4 lumps in the bonnet where the pistons had tried to get out. Happy days! Ps Michael - sorry about the ‘Michaela’ earlier - autocorrect as you probably guessed.
