X350 XJR Engine Swap into XK8?

Hello everyone,

I recently came into possession of a 2004 XJR which I'll be parting out, but the engine is still in rebuildable and usable condition. How difficult would it be to swap the supercharged engine from that 2004 XJR into my '97 XK8? Would there be any compatibility at all? Any info is appreciated.

P.S. if anyone is interested in parts from an X350, give me a PM

Agreed.
The 5HP trans in the 97 wouldn't be robust enough.
Then there's the electronics...

The 5HP trans in the 97 wouldn't be robust enough, and I don't know if everything would mechanically mate up.
Then there's the electronics...

If the OP has a complete 2004 XJR then the 6HP transmission in it could be used as well. Fair point about the electronics though, unless OP also has access to parts from a 2003+ XKR that also uses the 4.2/6HP combo.
