Xenon headlight upgrade kit
#3
You should be good with any aftermarket kit. Get the 4300k or 6000kto closely match stock appearance and keep the roadway lit properly. Lenses are projectors anyway, so plug and play will require very little effort. (getting to the bulbs will be fun, however)
A good read...

I'm not sure, never got past the turn signal replacement. I'm guessing unbolt the headlamp housing and pull it forward for full access to those main beams. If nobody answers here, post another thread asking about specifically that process. Bound to get more answers than this HID related topic. good luck

Help please. I bought one of the H7 HID upgrade kits theu Michelle here on the forums. Althogh the model of bulb is correct, I have no way of holding the bulb in place because the headlights housing has no wire holder. The stock bulb fits in a plug that plugs into the housing. Suggestions?

I just installed xenons in my '97 XK8. I paid $40 shipped from EBay. How much did your kit cost?

Here is an application chart for future reference:

I appreciate the feedback Gordo. However, I have a XJ8 VDP, which does use the H7 bulbs for headlights. The bulb is correct, but the stock bulb fits into a holder, that snaps into the headlight housing. Unfortunately, other than drilling out the center of holder to run the pre-assembled bulb/wires then snap the holder back into the housing.
Not wanting to risk mangling the holder, I went to AutoZone and picked up a set of Sylvania UltraBrights and installed them. 20 mile drive out to dinner tonight and the UltraBrights were very nice and white. If I can figure out how to make the HID's work, I'll switch the Ultra's to the high beams.
To answer your question on where I purchased and how much...I purchased the set from HIDExtras, using the discount afforded Jaguar Forum members and paid $60 with the FREE shipping. Shipped quickly and arrived quickly. Now I just gotta figure out how to make them work.

I think you need to find a pair of H7 bulb holder adaptors. I am converting my BMW 325xit from halogen to HID. In order to properly fit a xenon H7 lampt to the OEM halogen socket it was necessary to use an H7 adaptor which cost about $10/pair.
Check these out; http://motors.shop.ebay.com/i.html?_..._newu=1&_sop=1
First check with your supplier; I can't believe he would be selling the kit w/o knowing an adaptor is required.

Thanx for the suggestion Gordo, it appears you are correct. Although I've found nothing that looks similar or listed for my Jag, it is apparent that something MUST exist to make the change possible. I've emailed HIDExtras to see if they have what I need. I should have indicated to them which car I am attempting to upgrade.
Thanx again Gordo. Have a great week.
