Can anyone please confirm whether you can install an XJ8 steering wheel on a same generation XK8/R?

I'd like to send my steering wheel to get re-upholstered, and for while it's away I'd like to pick up a similar year XJ8/R steering wheel (which is cheap on ebay) as a temporary. I will not be installing the switches/airbag in the temporary, I just want it to mount up so I can drive the vehicle in the few days before the original steering wheel comes back.

hmmm, I don't see why not. Can a dealer parts guy confirm a temporary install?
