XK-8 speaker size
I'm aware that the front speakers on my 1998 convertible are 5.25 Phillips units but what size are the rear speakers? The grill looks larger but looks can be deceiving. Thanks in advance.
Thanks very much!
P.S. I heard a rumor that the rear speaker openings on the convertible were only 6 inches wide and not 6 1/2 inches. I heard that a modification might be necessary. Does anyone know anything about this as it concerns a 1998 XK-8 convertible?

I purchased these in the UK :

Which fitted without any modification to either the car or the speaker. There is a range of mounting holes around the perimeter - four of which lined up exactly with the Jaguar mounting holes. Not sure if they are available in the US.

OK, it's all sorted out and there's some good news to boot. I replaced the rear speakers which are 6 1/2 inch units with a generic pair and they sound fairly decent. But I found something out about the front or door speakers that I didn't know. It seems that the standard issue Phillips drivers are said to be 5 1/2 inch units. They are technically because the inner ring of the speaker is quite large. I compared the sizes of the speaker openings and found that both front and back are identical. In other words both front and back can take 6 1/2 inch speakers. I found a nice pair of 6 1/2 inch Sony units and put them in the door openings. The speaker mounting holes lined up perfectly so instead of having a 5 1/2 inch unit upfront I have two 6 1/2 inch speakers which upgrades the overall sound significantly. Long story short, there are four 6 1/2 inch speakers all around and the stereo sounds much much better. I'm kind of stoked.
