Default XK8 Backseat Windows Not Going Up

Hello All,
My first cryout for some possible solutions. I recently bought a 2000 Jag XK8 in an auction, knowing that the top was not going up/down automatically. I don't mind manually doing it until my maintenance manual arrives, but it would be nice if I could just get the rear windows up.

Any thoughts on how to trigger them to go up?

I have no idea why the top won't go up or down elect/hydr, the the motor does seem to click/hum when the button is pushed. This will take a bit of time to figure...

So, any backseat windows up solution?

Thank you!

Greg from KC, MO!

Are you sustaining the pressed button or are you giving it a quick tap? Do you hear the motors of the windows making any sounds? can you move the quarter windows by hand?

Welcome to the forum!

The top and window operation are codependent. The top has to have completed its operation and locked before the windows will automatically raise. If it is a matter of some urgency to raise the windows that can be done by jumping the relay contacts in the trunk.

The maintenance manual is available for free download at the top of this forum. That will provide the location of the relays and the electrical drawing on the relay covers will indicate the sockets to jump.

A quick search of the forum will provide many links to this often discussed subject.

The problem could be a number of things from electrical, mechanical and hydraulic. Do you have any displays on the dash saying that something is not latched?
